Learn More Before You Buy A Used Range Rover Sport!

If you are a fan of Land Rover, you should know that the 2014 model still offers its phenomenal 5.0-liter, V8 in the 2014 Range Rover Sport. This means you can use 510 horsepower, along with 461 pound-feet of torque. Sure, the current model sounds exciting, but it might not be affordable for everyone. Price might make you think about alternatives. If you are thinking about buying a used Range Rover Sport, read this article first. Here you will find the best kept secrets only expert buyers and dealers know.

Do Your Homework

If you don't have the necessary information to make an intelligent purchase, buying a used Range Rover Sport can become a sour experience. It comes as no surprise that the demand for these vehicles is very high, even as pre-owned vehicles. Once you've driven one, you will understand why so many people fall in love with them. This wonderful vehicle provides an enviable off-road experience, while offering a great on-road experience as well.

Maintenance Cost

A very important aspect to take into consideration is maintenance cost. Every Range Rover vehicle must receive service every 15,000 miles. Land Rovers are best handled by professionals. Even if it's more expensive to take it to an authorized service center, it's better than risking your vehicle.

There are a few repair and maintenance costs you should take into consideration before your purchase. A brake pad and rotor replacement costs between $477 and $1,132. As an example of maintenance costs, the 75,000-mile service is between $300 and $521, while the 60,000 mile service is between $250 and $411. A normal oil and filter change can cost you between $80 and $112.

Learn About Depreciation

The greatest advantage of buying a used Range Rover Sport is that it won't face as much depreciation as a brand new vehicle. Still, it's always a good idea to do online research about the value of the car you are about to buy.

Other Fees

Besides the down payment and monthly payments, you must also consider other mandatory fees like taxes, financing, insurance, and fuel. While taxes and financing are pretty high the first couple of years, they start to decrease with time. On the other hand, maintenance and repairs are quite low the first few years, but they increase with time. Insurance coasts will remain somewhat consistent throughout the years, depending on your driving record. As all car owners know, fuel costs ebb and flow.

Find A Reliable Dealership

The best ally you can have besides knowledge is a dealer you can trust. Find an authorized Land Rover dealership with plenty of experience and strong work ethic to guide you. Most dealerships offer as much information as you need. Take advantage of this and ask as many questions as you may have.

Suffix Zero - All in 10000 KMs

Some days ago, I finally graduated (or rather matriculated) from 1st standard 0r 1000 km to 10th standard (i.e. 10000 km) and 300 more in last 7 days, quite an eventful journey this has been. My admiration of this mechanical invention called a Car only continues to grow, well done whosoever has done that.

It's a great feeling to see that some of what I dreamed about, while in the 1st class, have come true. One of them was taking it for a loooong ride (vacation); two destinations in span of two weeks, doing some 300 km in a day all by myself (so that sets the bar for me - regarding maximum distance in a day so far). This also gave me the opportunity to chart my course on hilly terrains including the slopes and curves of Mahabaleshwar - where, as a kid, I'd see Mom being afraid to be riding by road on any format of transport!

Alas those vacations are more than 15 months old, the next one on the cards ought to be even loooooooooooonger ride... > 1500 KM to/fro: likely destination - Rajkot / Kutch:) Wish me luck.

Also realised the dream of taking it to the town where I spent much of my growing up days (it's a separate story that the two ladies in my house still find the need for me to grow up, while I think I have grown old enough to seek counsel of my old family doctor who still practices in that town)

Here are some unforgettable experiences along my 10000 km journey:

- The thrill when the needle on the speedometer moved to the other side of the 140Km mark, even for a few seconds, for a few times. Speed thrills!

- Two punctures in less than a week - on the same tyre, a (potential) conspiracy that I have not been able to unravel!

- A breakdown in the middle of the road, in midst of peak traffic.

- What every car owner experiences at some time - spending a bomb on whatever accident it be; and getting a fraction of that reimbursed by the insurer.

- Parking in a place that is otherwise fit for only our good old small car - the Maruti 800; or parking at a place where it's not restricted. Am now almost as much easy with the reverse gear as with 4th and 5th gear.

And oh yes, it feels good to give a ride to some fellow friends or family, trying to return the favors (though to different people) for lifts given to me by so many of them.

Missus is now more at ease siting besides me (initially it was her courage of being besides me when I took out the car for practice rides). I share her concern of going easy at times. And Mom has decided to be eternally afraid having a ride with me.

Let's end with the wish that government completely does away with all taxes on Petrol or that India strikes black gold within it's boundaries which is then sold at rates not more than a bottle of Bisleri bottled water.

How To Estimate The Cost Of A Used Car

Buying a used car can be a make or break decision for most people; it's a positive one if the person gets value for the money they pay, but it's a completely negative one if they are cheated out of their money. Knowing the real cost of the car can be a difficult factor, since there are so many different factors at play when it comes to deciding upon a used car. What model is the car? What is the mileage? What is the condition? While these are obvious questions that anybody would ask before even keeping a finger on a used car, there are some other things that must be kept in mind as well. In the following few paragraphs, we discuss the factors that will help determine the cost of a used car.

How Often Has It Been Repaired?

Damage to a car can significantly bring down its value. A person would be more willing to pay a higher cost for a car that has never been damaged in an accident before, than select a car that has been knocked up several times and repaired over and over again. As is the case with any machinery, damage can significantly rattle things within the vehicle; a sharp accident could potentially alter the shape of the chassis, which can never be brought back in position. Hence, the amount of times that a car has been repaired plays a major role. Obviously, the chances of a car from last year's make being repaired greater than a car that is ten years old are very slim, which is the reason why the recent models are priced higher.

The mileage

The mileage plays an absolutely important role in determining the cost of a used car. If a car has been driver more in a short span of time, it has seen a greater amount of wear and tear. Obviously, the price will be driven down as a result. A car that has not been driven as much, however, will have a higher price. Most people by now know that the odometer can be brought down using different underhand techniques, however by using a OBDII scanner or a professional tool, one can get the actual mileage of the car.

Condition of the vehicle

Is the paint scratching off the sides? Are the car seats worn off completely? Is the engine making a lot of sound? The condition of the car, both over the hood and under the hood, plays a vital role in determining its overall cost. If the car has recently gone through a makeover, the owner will likely ask for a higher price. It is only logical. If you are looking to get an old model, however, which is not in as pristine a condition as one would hope, then the costs will obviously be lower. These are some basic points which can help determine the cost of a used car, hence making it easier for the person to decide whether they are paying the right money for it or not.

How to Select a Crankshaft

The crankshaft is a mechanical part in the engine that is able to convert the reciprocating motion of the piston to rotational motion to propel the vehicle. With its one side connected to the big end of the conrods to do work, it plays an important role in the function of the engine, especially at high speeds, which makes choosing the right crankshaft critical for the high performance racing experience. Now I will give you some suggestions on how to select a proper one for yourself. Take a look!

Due to the extreme forces applied to the crankshaft, the first thing you need to consider when selecting a crankshaft is its strength, that is to say, you need to know what material and manufacturing techniques used to make it. Basically, there are three types of manufacturing techniques used to make crankshafts-casting, forging and machining from solid billet with which iron and steel are made into the products.

The basic cast iron used for crankshaft production has a tensile strength of around 80,000 psi. Rather brittle, isn't it? Well, nodular iron is slightly improved, with a tensile strength of 95,000 psi. However, due to its higher carbon content, it has nearly twice the elongation characteristics of standard cast iron, giving the nodular iron crank increased fatigue resistance. Moreover, there is still another option in cast crankshaft, that is, a cast steel one. Cast steel has a tensile strength of about 105,000 psi and greater carbon content than the nodular iron, namely, even better elongation characteristics so that many companies offer cast steel crankshafts as entry-level performance pieces.

Forged steel crankshaft, having a tensile strength of 110,000 psi and an elongation of 22 percent, are the most popular choice for performance engines. So, if you want to go for a hot street racing, maybe the forged steel one is a good choice, for it is strong and durable and can handle horsepower from a few hundred to 1500-plus hp.

At the very top, at least in terms of tensile strength, are the forged billet crankshafts at around 165,000 psi. Since the steel used to make a forged billet crankshaft cost many times than that used to make a forged one, it is more expensive. However, the top racing drivers tend to utilize the forged billet crankshaft, because by just changing the CNC programming, they could get the most suitable crankshaft for their engine, giving them a competitive edge over the others.

Apart from the two points mentioned above, another thing you deserve to know is that all you need is a proper crankshaft. Choosing a proper crankshaft depends on a host of factors, such as horsepower, rpm range, and whether the engine is naturally aspirated or turbo-charged. Once you have determined the specifics of these things, you can make a purchase. After all, choosing a crankshaft that is not strong enough for a particular application is as much a waste of money as choosing one that is stronger than needed.

Different Types of Brake Pads

The brake pad, converting the kinetic energy of the car to thermal energy by friction, plays an essential role in the car's braking system. Thus, choosing a suitable pad for your car can be both time and money saving, more importantly, saving life sometimes. And now I would like to give you a brief introduction to the different types of them.

In the past, the most popular brake pad is the organic brake pad, which is made from asbestos. Asbestos is effective in absorbing and dissipating heat from friction. However, when it breaks down, a lot of brake dust will show up, which is harmful to people's health. Thus, asbestos is gradually abandoned by most of the manufacturers. Instead, the manufacturers have created the nonasbestos organic brake pad, which is made from natural materials like rubber, glass, and resins. The main advantage of this kind of pad is that it's environmental-friendly and is easier to be disposed of. Nevertheless, the disappointing fact is that since it is much softer, it wears faster, creating even more dust than the ones made from asbestos. Besides, although nonasbestos organic ones work well in normal street driving, once exposed to high temperatures or heavy load, they lose their high efficiency in stopping the car. Thus, they are only suitable for small cars that don't do much aggressive driving, with limited hard stops and the light weight of the car being the necessities as well.

A metallic brake pad is another option for your car. Made from iron, copper, steel and graphite, metallic pads give superb performance in dissipating heat generated by friction between themselves and the brake rotors. The reason why they are so popular among the vehicle users is that they are really cost-effective and durable. Nonetheless, the metallic ones are so heavy that they don't make a good choice for high performance racing. Also, since they are very hard, they can cause more wear on the brake rotors than other types of the brake pads do. Moreover, when the days are cold, it might take slightly longer than usual for the car with metallic brake pads to stop, for the metallic ones work best when they're warm.

Light and durable, ceramic brake pads might be the best of all the types of the pads. Made from ceramic fibers, filler material, bonding agents and a small amount of copper fibers, the ceramic brake pad makes itself the best partner of the sports cars. However, due to its high price, it is not as popular as the two types mentioned above.

The Audi A5: Review

The Audi A5 Cabriolet is classy with a stylish exterior and it certainly makes heads turn when seen on the road. So, if looks are what you want you can't go wrong with this model.

However, the stylish looks come with a caveat and that is the driving experience which is somewhat lackluster.

With the roof up, it is relatively quiet but when the top is down it has wind and road noise and suffers from a disturbing vibration that can be felt through both the seats and the steering wheel.

The cabin easily copes with four adults and has a decent size boot which is not compromised when the roof is down.

The model is easy to drive but unless you are on the smoothest roads, the juddering is not only uncomfortable but a little worrying.

It is a pity that the acoustic roof which reduces noise is not fitted as standard because it is almost a necessity due to the amount of sound that penetrates the cabin. Leg and headroom in the rear is limited, but the interior is still well fitted with car mats, comfortable seating and Bluetooth.

When it comes to safety, the A5 Cabriolet is made well and it has roll hoops which spring out to protect the driver and passengers. Like all Audi models, reliability is not an issue and Audi lies 10th in the 2013 Driver Power customer satisfaction poll. This is an increase of five places from the previous year.

Practicality is high on the agenda with the A5 Cabriolet. The cloth roof can be put down whilst driving at speeds of up to 30 mph and it takes up very little space when folded. The model boasts 380 litres of luggage space in the boot and this will easily fit in golf clubs or two large bags. If you fold down the seats you get an increase to 750 litres which is impressive in a Cabriolet model.

Running costs for the A5 vary according to which engine is chosen. The most economical is the 2.0 litre TDI diesel which returns 60.1 mpg. Emissions for this model are low so road tax is only £90 a year. If you want speed then the 3.0 litre TFSI V6 petrol engine will go from 0 - 62 mph in 6.3 seconds with a top speed of 155 mph.

Audi models hold their value well in the used car market and although it is not cheap, this model is lower priced than equivalent models from BMW and Mercedes.

The Transmission - Diagnosis and Rebuilding Process

In motor vehicles, the transmission generally is connected to the engine crankshaft via a flywheel and/or clutch and/or fluid coupling, shifting gears to dynamically change the speed-torque ratio in order to deliver power to the wheels in an efficient manner based on the speed of the vehicle, because a high rotational speed engine's output cannot be used for low speeds and starting. Thus, once the transmission breaks down, the vehicle will be in big trouble.

There are a number of signs showing the breakdown of the transmission, just like falling out of gear while driving, grinding sound when changing gears, burning odor and leaking transmission fluid. Once you encounter such things, you may have your transmission replaced or rebuilt. A full transmission replacement is one of the most expensive procedures a mechanic can perform on a vehicle. However, the good news is that getting the transmission rebuilt can be much cheaper as long as there are no major issues to be addressed. Well, how can the transmission, the very complex engine component be rebuilt?

Well, the process of rebuilding a transmission is rather lengthy and labor-intensive in that the mechanics must disassemble the transmission to look for problems and replace the parts that are causing it not to function properly. Generally speaking, there are two steps before rebuilding a transmission. The first is changing the transmission fluid, for this is the easiest check and one of the common problems causing the transmission breakdown-The dirty transmission fluid will cause the shifting to become noticeably "stickier" and decreasing the vehicle's fuel economy as well. Next, the mechanics will check the vehicle's computer system that controls automatic shifting (for automatics) in that transmission slipping and hard shifts can actually be caused by the computer if it is not reading the RPM correctly. And all it takes is to replace a sensor.

After this and some other diagnostic tests, the mechanic should disassemble the transmission to start rebuilding. Each part is inspected, cleaned and replaced (if necessary). Parts such as seals and gaskets are replaced anyway and if there is no big problem in its main component, the transmission would be assembled and reinstalled into the car. After the test drive to ensure everything is working properly, the car will be returned to its owner.

The Advantage Of Opting For Car Front Cuts

It is really costly to maintain a car or two especially when you're dealing with second-hand ones. If you're a vehicle owner, you need to be resourceful to find alternative effective solutions that will allow you have a good ride without breaking the bank.

For instance, car parts can be expensive, but their replacements do not always need to come from official dealers or retailers. You don't always have to buy brand new for the upkeep of your car. One particularly ingenious way to source car parts is by buying front cuts. This is actually something that many car shops do. In order to supply their customers with more affordable car parts, especially the ones that are difficult to find, they deal in buying Japanese half cuts.

Through these, they can offer their customers good quality engines, suspensions, drivelines, cooling systems, etc. What exactly are front cuts or half cuts? These are cars that were chopped at the halfway point of the vehicle. The front cuts of vehicles include everything that sits in the front half of the car, such as the air conditioner setup, power steering, pedal box, cooling system, steering rack and column, suspension, etc.

There are orders that specify that a car be divided into multiple cuts, but half cuts are more common. We're talking about salvage grade cars here, so the vehicles involved could possibly be slightly damaged. At times, a cut is also not suited for a particular order, and buyers could choose to get a conversion package instead. This normally consists of only the bare essentials necessary for a conversion, such as the engine, the engine harness, the ECU, the transmission, and the airflow meter.

When you purchase whole salvage grade vehicles and have them cut and dismantled you can check the engine condition before the dismantling is done. This means that the importer can offer the cut to the market with a degree of certainty of its condition. Dealing with an export company on the other side of the world is not without risk, though this risk can be avoided by using a safe trade.

This is a payment system that provides security for both the importer and exporter. Buyers are advised to only do business with a trusted safe trade so that they can ensure that their money is protected and that they won't be swindled by a crooked exporter. There are more options out there than you know of. It pays to know other ways of doing things so that you can accomplish tasks more affordably, but just as effectively. Click here to know more.

Solve Problems Loading a Boat on a Bunk Trailer

Many trailer boat owners have problems at the ramp with launch and retrieval and are looking for new ideas that may be a solution. The source of many of these problems is often the bunk boards that support the boat on the trailer. These bunk boards are either 2 x 4" or 2 x 6" lengths of wood that are wrapped with a marine carpet to prevent damage to the boat hull. They mount to the trailer cross members with either a stationary or swivel bracket mechanism.

These trailers are usually several years old and still have the original bunk carpet in place. Over time, the carpet will absorb dirt and contamination causing increased drag on the boat hull while launching or retrieving. Naturally, boat hulls with greater weight and length will have greater drag.

Also, the carpet can wear and allow the wooden bunk boards to contact the aluminum or fiberglass boat hull. This can cause damage or unsightly marks on the hull. Another problem trailer boat owners encounter is that old carpeted bunks can prevent the boat from being loaded straight (centered) on the trailer. To the trailer owner, an obvious solution is to either replace the carpet or replace the entire bunk board.

If the boards are solid, there are other remedies for this problem.

1) There are commercially available spray-on, silicone-based products designed to reduce friction. This approach can be considered a short-term fix. The bunk carpet should be scrubbed clean with detergent, rinsed and dried before applying this product.

2) A more elegant solution is a product known commercially as 'bunk slicks'. These will fit over the 2 × 4" or 2 × 6" bunk boards. These bunk covers are made of a durable plastic with a low coefficient of friction. This product is easy to install with stainless steel mounting hardware and mount from the side and in most cases require that the old carpet be removed. They also assist in centering the boat on the trailer while retrieving the boat at the ramp.

Be careful with these! Make sure the winch strap or cable is secured to the boat's bow eye or the boat could slip off the trailer while backing down the ramp.

3) The last option would be to completely remove the bunk board and replace with another product known as Roller Bunks. These mount to the same bolster/swivel bracket mechanism as the bunk boards. This item can be described as a metal channel with sets of rollers and are only available in 4 or 5 ft. lengths. They have a hull weight limitation of 1500 lbs per pair.

These products are all available from marine catalogs or stores and are reasonably priced to solve the problems of the Trailer Boating public. These are the best options to improve the loading / launching of boats from a bunk style boat trailer.

Essential Ways To Ensure That Your Car's Air Conditioning Performs Well All Year Round

Modern cars have all of the futuristic systems that were the stuff of science fiction only a few decades ago, and motoring is arguably safer than it has ever been. The management system monitors almost every function and reports it to the driver through the dashboard. I can see the day coming when there will be a heads up display on the windscreen. If it works for fighter pilots, it seems to be the next logical progression in cars too.

We have never enjoyed such comfort in our vehicles. The seats are ergonomically designed to minimise back fatigue on long journeys, and the in-car entertainment systems are world-class. Climate control now comes as standard in many models and is efficient and reliable if you look after it correctly.

We are going to look at car air conditioning today and offer a few tips to help you keep it running all year-round. Many people find that when the next summer rolls around, their system no longer functions. As you will see, there are steps you can take to prevent that happening to your car.

We only tend to use the air conditioning when we need it and forget about it for the rest of the time. Some people think that running it will cost a fortune in extra petrol. Well, yes, it does have an impact on the fuel consumption but it is not as bad as you might imagine. Try to get into the routine of running the system for ten or more minutes every week, especially in the winter. Lack of use is a usual reason for it to fail.

During the cold season, the windows of the car tend to mist up. The air conditioning removes moisture from the air and will speed up the de-misting process. It is an ideal time to give the system some exercise. Set it to warm air and leave it running until the glass is clear.

Every couple of years, and especially if you intend to sell a car, take it to a specialist for a full service. It is surprisingly cheap, and it will make sure everything is in tip-top condition. I advise that you re-pressurize the system every year. Most service centres will have a fixed price for the job, and it will help your unit to run at peak efficiency.

Climate control can improve the driving comfort for those who suffer from allergies and lung problems. The air is fresh and clean which helps to control their symptoms.

Air conditioning repairs are one of the few projects you cannot take on at home. Some systems contain chemicals that are toxic to humans. You should never attempt a repair because exposure to the gas can affect your health. Because of this you should contact a car air conditioning specialist.

On a long journey, especially with children in the car, it is worth its weight in gold, in my opinion. The blistering hot weather can lead to short tempers and arguments. You can always spot a family that has a functioning system because they look comfortable and happy. You can't put a price on that.

Transportation Management Systems Can Overcome These 3 Logistic Challenges For You

A transportation management system is an all-encompassing, quality-control practice that freight companies often provide. It gives solid solutions to complement an expedited delivery function for your business. You know how essential it is to have your goods reach your customers in a timely manner and in excellent condition. Comprehensive follow-through is necessary to make sure everything falls into place. Here are 3 logistic challenges that a transportation management system (TMS) can overcome for you:

Long Lead Times and Variability

Do your lead times exceed the norm for goods and services? Do you accrue disruptions on upstream or downstream activities? The length of time from the implementation of a product to its final step of delivery can be significantly reduced. It begins with you manufacturing stellar, efficient items for your clients. Subsequently, carrier companies execute the most cost effective ways to ship those items. From inbound to outbound, a TMS can assist you in supplying the demand of your clients. When unforeseen circumstances occur, they can effectively handle critical issues to keep your customers satisfied. With real time tracking, planning for route optimization can be improved.

Changes in Demand

Have you noticed a decrease in your order volume? What about a difference in quantity from repeat customers? Consumers have unpredictable spending habits. Social trends, online reviews, and the economy all collectively affect dollars and cents every day. Your company can benefit from a TMS that will alert all parties involved to a change in cost or inventory. This creates integrated business modules that can be communicated via various technological outlets. You can gain a competitive advantage and increase efficiency due to the enhanced data.

Low Margins

Are you experiencing high product returns while producing more goods? Engaging in a "checks and balances" process is the key to properly managing inventory and reducing product returns. A TMS can keep product margins high and fuel and freight costs low. When end users can view specific details of a shipment including its serial number, they gain a heightened confidence in what is coming. Their sensory perception of the experience as a whole is above par, and that elevated satisfaction can lead to an increase in future sales.

A transportation management system produces overall operating efficiency increases and lean supply-chain operations. The accounting, management, and planning of your goods are all streamlined to exhibit a cohesive process. This generates better communication, product

Valuable Tips on Car Paint Protection

Every time your car leaves the garage, it rolls into infinite dangers - bird poop, bugs and microscopic germs, dust and grit, and of course, harsh weather conditions and sun's heat. No wonder, these take a toll on your car's paint, leaving it rusted, dirty, and with a poor finish. Dirt and grit stick to the paint, and causes it to lack luster, making the surface rough and harsh. Even the scorching sun above and its harmful ultraviolet rays cause significant damage to the car paint.

If you care for your car, regular car wash and care are important. Here are some tips to protect new car paint. After all, you need something better for your baby's skin!

Cleaning

The best and simplest way to protect your car's paint is car cleaning and regular care. After you come back home after a long ride, wash or at least rinse off the dirt on the car as soon as possible. The longer it stays onto the body; the more it will penetrate deeper into the paint and cause damage. After washing, let it cool in the shade on shallow incline. This helps the water drops to fall off onto the ground and not penetrate in the body, which can again damage the paint.

Before car wash, rinse off thoroughly because no matter how much you clean, if there is sand and grit on the surface of the car paint, it won't help. Use only mild car soap and a fresh sponge to clean your car. Make sure that you only rinse and wash one section of the car at a time, cleaning from the top to bottom. Don't scrub hard on the paint; rather, use long light strokes along the length of the car. Dry the car in the shade (and not under the sun), and use a blotting paper rather than wiping.

Waxing

Next is the step of car detailing, which is integral to protect the paint from damage. Remember, there is no shortcut to waxing. It not only enhances the beauty of your car's paint, but also protects it from UV rays and dirt. The ideal way to wax is to apply a coat of wax and then immediately wipe it off.

UV Protection

UV protection coating can effectively resist chalking and dulling effect of sunlight on your car's paint. There are several products available today that protects the car from harmful ultraviolet rays. Make sure that you apply them regularly as recommended. A protective car covering is also a good way to protect the car from harsh weather conditions and sunlight.

Clear Coat Paint Finish

Clear coat paint functions as "sealers' on new cars, working as a protective film over the base paint layer. Make sure your new car has one. However, it can never replace waxing since it can still erode, breathe, collect stains and grime, and absorb moisture.

The Benefits of Fitting Nexen Tyres Onto Your Car

Owning a car is a big responsibility because it needs a lot of maintenance and care. You have to service your car regularly and change certain parts regularly to ensure that you get the best use out of your car for a longer period. One important car part that you need to check and change often is the car's tyres. It's good practice to search for tyres that are best suited to your car and your safety. Nexen tyres are a quality brand of tyres that offer multiple benefits for you and your car.

These are the benefits of fitting Nexen tyres onto your car.

Tips On How To Customize Car Seat Covers

It's good to express your personality even in your car. One of the best ways of doing it is customizing your car seat covers. If you are wondering how to go about it, here is how:

Embroidery

This technique allows you to add your name, initials, or your nickname in your car covers. You should start by buying the covers and taking them to an embroidery shop.

For ideal results, you should buy black, white, brown, or gray covers. Car covers with these colors allow you to easily add your personality using a brightly colored thread.

Embroidery services are usually offered in many printing and custom t-shirt companies and for you to get what you want you should write a well detailed description of what you are interested in. You should describe the words, font, and thread color that you want.

Applique

This is where you customize the seat cover using your favorite sports team logo. You can also customize it using your favorite cartoon character or flower image. You should start by buying a fabric with images that you like. To make your work easy, you should choose a fabric with images that are large enough.

Once you have found the fabric, you should cut the images out and identify where you want to place them on the covers. You should then iron the image on the seat cover.

For ideal results you should ensure that you use the correct heat setting on the iron. To prevent melting of the synthetic material, you should place a piece of fabric between the iron and cover.

You should finish the appliqué by sewing the edges of the image onto the car cover.

Tie and dye

This is ideal when you are operating on a tight budget. You should buy white car covers and large rubber bands. You should also buy at least four colors of your favorite dye.

While sectioning off large and small areas of your covers, you should place each of your favorite dyes in a large bucket and dip each section of the cover in the bucket. For ideal results you should ensure that the car cover is saturated with the dye.

The Importance for Tyre Retailers to Stock a Range of Wheel and Tyre Brands

We live in an age where almost everyone owns a car or some kind of vehicle. Whether it is a new car or an older version, we all require wheels and tyres. And this is a product that many people spend a lot of time looking for and comparing because there are so many different types of wheels and tyres on the market. For that main reason, it is very important for a tyre retailer to stock a variety of tyre brands. There are, however, many other reasons why a wheel and tyre retailer should stock a range of tyre brands.

These are the reasons why it is important for a wheel and tyre retailer to stock a wide range.

Each wheel and tyre brand offers its own purpose for your vehicle. Certain wheel brands are best suited for cars, while others are better for SUV's or trucks. Then there are other brands that can cater wheels suitable for passenger vehicles as well as for SUV's, such as Lenso Wheels. Lenso Wheels has a range of tyres that are manufactured to optimise your driving experience in your car plus it has another range that is best suited for SUV's. On the other hand, there are tyres that are manufactured for racing purposes. Wanli's brand include a range that are made for high performance vehicles. These tyres are made to endure extreme conditions especially during racing. And if they are suitable for racing conditions, they will be suitable for any condition that you drive in.

Just as the purpose is unique so are the styles of wheels and tyres. If you look at the range of wheels for Lenso Wheels, you find that their designs are different to that of Storm, Borghini and Scarlet Luxury Wheels. Each manufacturer has their own unique designs that customers may prefer to another. Some brands may design a style a more bold design that is usually preferred by men whereas there are other brands that have a more stylish design that is suited for both men and women. Keep in mind that your male and female customers have different preferences in the look of their cars. It is, therefore, imperative that you stock a variety of wheel designs so that you have a product that your customer will purchase.

As a wheel and tyre retailer that wants to be successful in this industry, you must cater for a broad market which includes that of male and female customers as well as passenger vehicle owners and SUV owners.

Maintenance Of Car Interiors

For some, it is just a walk in the park to get your car looking all shiny from the outside. However, it is an entirely different story when it comes to keeping the interiors looking the same way.

It is of vital importance to take good care of the car's interior as it not only keeps it clean and fresh, but in the long run will also impact in adding to the resale value of the automobile. A well maintained interior undoubtedly improves the driving experience as well.

Taking a few precautionary measures would not hurt, as this would reduce the burden of cleaning the interiors later on. The following guidelines would keep your car looking as good as new always.

1) Use of rubber mats:

We tend to bring in a lot of dirt into the car through our footwear. It would be a great idea to supplement the factory cloth mats with rubber or plastic mats. These mats protect the fabric below as they act as excellent dust collectors. They are also less prone to damage when compared to cloth mats.

2) Drive with air conditioning on:

There is a lot of dust in the atmosphere. Accumulation of dust in a car causes the interiors to age much faster. This reduces the overall aesthetic beauty of the car and hence affects its resale value. Hence it is always advisable to drive with the air conditioning on.

3) Do not eat, drink or smoke in the car:

We all try to be careful while consuming beverages in the car. Don't we? Irrespective of our efforts, we tend to make mistakes which badly stain the upholstery of the car. You can always make out from the interiors of a car to identify whether the driver smokes or not. More often than not you would always find burn patches here and there which are non-repairable.

4) Vacuuming:

Vacuuming is the best method to keep a car's inside spick and span. It helps remove dirt hidden in various nook and crannies of the car. It helps you reach areas that are non-accessible to your hands and hence helps in deep cleansing of the car.

5) Upholstery cleaners:

Although Vacuuming helps to capture loose dirt, it is of little use when it comes to cleaning tough stains. Use high quality upholstery cleaners in order to do away with the blemishes. To retain the suppleness of the fabric, always blot the stains with the cleaner instead of rubbing over them.

If due to corrosion some of body parts of your car get rusted, you can search for online body cut parts supplier to find the body parts, which can give your car a new look.

Is It a Good Idea To Replace Your Tyres Often?

Every vehicle owner has to take care of their vehicle. Most of us tend to take more care than others in that we want to makes sure that our car is in great condition. Therefore, some of us tend to be a bit more cautious and tend to change certain parts of our cars sooner than is necessary. This can be the same said of a vehicle's wheels and tyres. Are we changing it too soon? Or are we changing it too late? When is the optimal time to replace your car's tyres?

This is a question we all ponder. Have you ever just walked around your car and looked at your tyres wondering if it is time to change the tyres? You probably have. There are certain tell-tale signs that indicate when to change your tyres.

If your tyre's tread is less than 1mm then it is time to change your tyres. It is imperative that you change it at this stage and don't leave it for another time because, believe it or not, it is the law. Besides the law, it is very unsafe to drive with smooth tyres. You risk the tyres not being able to grip the road which means that it could slide in wet or even in dry conditions. Of course, it is much worse if it slides in wet conditions because you could lose all control of your vehicle due to lack of sufficient grip.

If your car's tyre has a puncture this is a definite indication that you need to replace the affected tyre. You cannot drive with a tyre that is losing air as it will create an imbalance in your vehicle which can be very dangerous. A vehicle has to be sufficiently balance on all four wheels and tyres in order to drive optimally. Any imbalance can cause the car to sway out of control and bear into other vehicles or objects.

If your wheels and tyres are not properly aligned they may wear irregularly. If your tyres wear quickly and irregularly across the four tyres, this could be hazardous when driving as your tyres are not all wearing at the same pace. Some may be weaker than others and could cause irregularity in your driving and result in less than optimum grip.

Therefore, you know it is time to replace your wheels and tyres when the tyre tread is less than 1mm, the tyre has a puncture or there is irregularity in the tyre's wear.

What Are The Best Tyres For Your Car?

Having a car is a good thing because it is a mode of transportation that gives you the freedom to go anywhere. Like the old adage goes - with great freedom comes great responsibility. This is true when it comes to owning a car because if you don't look after it, it will cause you many problems in the future. When it comes to your wheels and tyres, you also have to consider what is best for your car.

What are the best tyres for your car? How do you choose the right wheels and tyres for your vehicle? Here are a few points to consider when choosing tyres.

How will you use the tyres? In other words, will you be driving to work and home or will you be driving long distances or off-roading? If the tyres are made for all terrains, then you should be reassured that it can be used in wet conditions, dry conditions and off road surfaces. If they are manufactured for high performance vehicles then it should be able to withstand long distance driving conditions and it should be conducive to high speeds. So if you have a sports car where you perhaps spend time on a race track, then it's best to opt for high performance tyres such as the Wanli High Performance Tyres.

What type of vehicle do you have? Consider what type of vehicle you need tyres for. If you have a car, then find a tyre that is suitable for passenger vehicles. The size of the tyre and the fit is imperative for the proper functioning of the wheels. Placing a larger tyre on the wheel than should be there, could cause an accident and severe damage to your vehicle. For SUV's and 4X4 vehicles, choose a tyre that is specifically designed for these larger vehicles. Wanli also has a range of tyres suitable for SUV's and 4X4's as well as a range of Wanli Passenger tyres.

Quality is important. Choose a tyre that is renowned for its quality and will be reliable in the conditions that it specifies. Find a tyre that is recognised for safety and will add protection to your car. For example, if you find yourself on a slippery and wet road where you lose control of your vehicle, will your tyres react positively by gripping the road when necessary instead of skidding out of control? These are factors that you need to consider even though it sounds dark.

Choosing the right wheels and tyres for your car will depend on your type of vehicle, where you use the vehicle and the quality of tyres.

Customized Automotive Foam Suppliers Provide Protective Cushioning

Thanks to technological advancements made by NASA in the 60s, dense foam material, which was used in orbital vehicles, eventually came to be used for car seats, marine flotation devices, and as cushioning for medical equipment and bedding. Today, auto manufacturers rely on the materials and products offered by automotive foam suppliers for use in automobile seating and headrests, and foam is also utilized to cushion any impacts during accidents.

Most automotive padding is made of polyurethane materials, as they offer a high degree of density and viscosity. Because this kind of material is reactive to pressure and body heat, it conforms well to use in a variety of furniture and seats. Use of the material also lessens noise inside of a motor vehicle and adds to a more comfortable drive, especially if you must sit for hours at a time.

Molding and Shaping the Material

Fortunately, memory-type materials can be cut and shaped in a variety of ways so they can be easily incorporated into automotive seats or other furnishings. All you need to do is work with the supplier in formulating a plan for cutting the material. How the substance is cut and used is dependent on its density and it malleability. Different materials exhibit different properties, and those factors must be taken into consideration before a block of material is molded or shaped for use. While some materials are designed primarily for cushioning, others are made for the sole purpose of safety. Working with a company that is well versed in the applications of foam products in engineering enables manufacturers to find the exact product that will fit their production needs.

Types of Cushioning

Every manufacturer has its own preferences with respect to cushioning. Foam is available in a number of varieties, including viscoelastic, fabricated, gel, self-skinning, and rigid urethane options. In addition, automotive foam suppliers provide automakers with such services as fabrication, molding and cutting, and sewing. Engineering support also features computer-aided design (CAD), tooling development, prototyping, and assessment of physical properties.

Self-Skinning Materials

In the automotive industry, self-skinning fabrics are often used for headrests. The fabric features a high-density layer on the outside that safeguards a lower density core within the material. You will also see the material used in the production of baby seats and other forms of protective and safety padding. Armrests, office chairs, and even keyboard trays will contain the material. The self-skinning material is even used in the making of stage props, shoe soles, mattresses and medical instruments.

Molded, High-Resilience Offerings

With respect to seating, HR fabrics, or molded, high-resilience foam, is made at a density of 3.0 to 4.0 pounds pcf (per cubic foot). The fabric is made to outfit the cushioning for office seating and furniture. The material is also an ideal choice for customization, as it can be fabricated, molded, and cut for a variety of uses. Automotive cushions, marine flotation devices, office furniture, and mass transit seating all make use of the strong and multipurpose fabric.

Aspects That Make Aftermarket Car Lights a Preferable Choice

The original lighting panels that come pre-installed with a vehicle undeniably serve their purpose efficiently. However, they do not work as a last option for the ones who wish to take their driving experience to a whole new level. Aftermarket car lights work as a viable alternative for the vehicle owners who want to heighten their driving experience. In fact, these lights not only help in enhancing the level of visibility from behind the wheels, but they also help in amplifying the overall look of the car.

There are many who often think twice before opting for aftermarket car lights, when the existing pair of lights is working completely fine. It is interesting to note that there are various reasons why one should definitely consider replacing the original ones with the aftermarket counterparts. Now, let us have a quick look at some of the most important aspects that make these options a preferable choice indeed.

• Enhanced Visibility

Aftermarket car lights work as an ideal option for the ones who seek better visibility while driving at night. Installing these high-performance car lights helps the driver to enjoy clear visibility from behind the wheels. The stock lights that comes pre-installed with the car offer limited visibility in adverse climatic situations like storms or rainfall. In similar circumstances, the custom counterparts offer the drivers with superior clarity.

• Enhanced Safety and Security

The conventional lighting panels often become a big reason of annoyance for the approaching drivers because they often cause a high level of glare, making the drivers temporarily blind. The advanced counterparts have no such issues associated with them. Benefits of a Custom Powder Coating

If you're looking to add a veneer to one of your products - whether for business or personal reasons - you may be surprised by all the options that exist out there. Fortunately, if you consider a custom powder coating, you'll find it superior to all others and cut down on the time you need to spend looking into other versions out there.

Many of these other options involve liquid finishes. Technically powder coatings fall into this category, but with at least one major and important difference. Traditional liquid coatings contain VOCs (volatile organic compounds). These pollutants can cause all kinds of problems, especially around those who already suffer when the air quality around them is low. Even if you take the responsible steps to control these VOCs, you'll end up spending a lot of money unnecessarily. By going the powder coating route, there's also less you need to do in order to abide by EPA laws.

On top of offering a better environmental footprint, a custom powder coating simply looks better. Unlike, so many opportunities out there to do the right thing by Mother Nature, then, this is one that doesn't actually involve any real sacrifice on your part. These coatings can reach every nook and cranny on your product, plus you won't lack for options in terms of the appearance you end up with. Everything from candy paint to copper is available.

A custom coating is also extremely durable. Even the above benefits wouldn't amount to much if you had to constantly keep reapplying the coating (this would definitely hurt its environmental benefits, too). However, there's a reason satellite dishes, traffic-light casings and even heavy duty machinery have all been treated with powder coatings in the past. Despite the relentless wear and tear these objects are up against, a solid coating will not give up.

Lastly, there are countless applications for a powder coating, only a few of which we already mentioned. People have used this process to help their automobile or motorcycle stand out. It's also been used in combination with stencils to make an eye-catching advertisement that ensures an individual's business gets the attention it deserves.

Knowledge Of Modifying A Car's Suspension System

A car's suspension system is very complex, with the parts inextricably connected to each other. Regardless of a car's shape and size, just the 4 tires touch the ground, and they undertake the weight of the car itself as well as the people and things the car carries. Let's assume a vehicle (front-engine, front-wheel drive) has a total weight of 1,000 kg. When static, the front and rear tire on each side bears 300 kg and 200 kg respectively, while the weight load has some subtle changes when the car gets started. The dynamic inertia will cause a weight transfer to the car, no matter it is speeding up, slowing down or steering, thus resulting in rapid bear load growth of some individual tires. For example, if there's an emergency brake on the ground, the weight that is originally borne by the rear tires would instantly transfer to the front tires. That is to say, the two former tires, which only bear 600 kg in total, will now undertake perhaps more than 800 kg. What's more, if the car radically turns right when downgrading at a high speed while the driver suddenly loses the throttle, the weight load of the right rear tire would become zero because the car is now up in the air! At this time, weight load of the left front tire would reach as much as 800 kg, while the left rear tire and right front tire will take 80 kg and 120 kg respectively. This phenomenon of severe imbalance would let the left front tire slip because of the heavy load, thus losing the ability of steering. In this situation, if the driver depresses the brake in a hurry, more weight would transfer to the front. As a result, the left rear tier has not enough down force because of little weight load, so the frictional force is not enough to contend with the left lateral force generated by the right bend, thus generating a left traverse.

The above is a simplified example, but the basic principle is perhaps clear, and we can come to a conclusion that if we could reduce the weight transfer in a movement, the limit of slip can then be increased, thus resulting in a substantial improvement in the overall handling. And now I'd like to introduce several methods to reduce the weight transfer.

The first way is to reduce the car's weight. Once the gross weight is less, the transferred weight is therefore reduced. That is to say, weight load of the tires under the same condition is less, so the limit will certainly increase. Please remember to reduce the useless stuff in the car, especially in the trunk, because they will follow the car's dynamic inertia to transfer, thus affecting the stability.

The second way is to lower the vehicle's center of gravity, because the lower the center of gravity is, the less the car swings, meaning the less of weight transferred at the same time. The easiest way to lower a car's center of gravity is to decrease the height of the vehicle. But do not casually cut the original springs to achieve your goal as this would cause some side effects.

The third way is to strengthen a car's ability of anti-heeling (roll stiffness), which requires strengthening the body and suspension system to suppress sway amplitude of the car. The most common way of this kind of modification is to install high-strength springs and shock absorbers, and equip the car with front and rear tower bars, as well as anti-roll bars.

When and Why Would High Performance Tyres Be Needed

Before purchasing high performance tyres you will want to know why you would be compelled towards these tyres. Understanding the questions of what they are, who needs them and why there is a demand for them is what needs to be addressed. The superior benefits of high performance tyres are quite unique and that is what we will look at in this article.

The original draft of high performance tyre was extreme in nature in comparison to other usual passenger car tyres. It turned out to become an immediate breakthrough with admirers. Wheels and tyres, the right ones, are essential for every driver. The high performance tyre is finding their way to nearly all modern day cars. With their exceptional quality design automobile manufacturers soon appreciated how they intensified their vehicles in directions that had never been thought of before. At higher speeds the handling of your vehicle performs remarkably well. They corner better, they stop more effectively, the steering is improved.

Also, these tyres demonstrate to be significantly safer during a time of panic. Such as when controlling how you stop the car can mean life or death.

The correct wheels and tyres can make all the difference. The high performance wheels and tyres also work extremely well with the most modern anti-break lock technology. So you are assured of a safe driving experience at all times.

The correct wheel and tyre is crucial when you require the best performance and driving capabilities from your vehicle. At this point every manufacturer was anxious to gear their vehicles with the high performance tyres. The advantages of high performance tyres are great. You can be confident that there will be a lesser chance of a blow out when traveling on the highway driving higher speeds. The wheel and tyre will react and be considerably safer with today's ABS systems. The modern day sensitive steering and suspension method make these tyres a winning combination.

Currently, automobile manufacturers plan to improve the onboard vehicle computer operation. This includes that of the crucial tyre information which will take into account the factors such as height and rolling defense. Tyres have evolved into a very elaborate part of the vehicle, therefore performance tyres are not going anywhere. The consumer fully understands that these tyres are a decisive design criteria. That is why they prefer high performance tyres. It also helps that they are recommended for your vehicle by engineers.

Current Trends in Automobile Headlights

High-quality custom headlights can replace the factory-installed fixtures that light up modern cars' front ends. Car owners who are not satisfied with the subpar headlights that come with their vehicles now have plenty of options available to them. Aside from the lighting mechanism itself, better and more reliable materials are also available to car owners, including corrosion-free stainless steel mounting brackets and lightweight die-cast aluminum housing.

Upgrading your ride

Nowadays, stock headlights can be easily replaced. Many specialty shops offer products and services related to vehicle upgrades. Some of the most popular options are projector headlights and LED headlights. A vast assortment is within reach, and there are enough choices in the market today to fit the style and look of a specific vehicle.

Upgrades can also come in the form of customized headlights for cars and trucks, which are tailor fit to the vehicle and designed, based on the owner's specifications. There was a time when car owners need to spend a small fortune just go get the "look" that they are gunning for. Others would sacrifice a less than ideal options just because the top choice is very difficult to install. These days, a custom fit is possible for relatively affordable prices.

Different forms of lighting

Aside from the ease of attaining a certain look or style, there are also different forms of lighting available for drivers who are very particular with the type of bulb and the quality of light that the vehicle is fitted with. Drivers who want to include running lights or perhaps parking and signal lights in the housing can take their pick from a variety of halos, beams, and LED products. These lighting assemblies are available in a myriad of shapes and sizes. Moreover, there are also new and more effective products in the market that are designed specifically to keep the plastic lenses of composite headlights clear and free from discolorations that lead to a reduction in light output. For those who do not trust these kinds of treatment, then a long-lasting polycarbonate lens cover can be installed instead. These are dependable and resistant to the elements.

High-tech LED lighting assemblies

Nowadays, some of the most popular car headlight options are LED assemblies. The preference for LED bulb is founded on the fact that they last longer. In fact, the lifespan of an LED bulb is about 25 times that of a conventional incandescent bulb. Another advantage of LED technology is that the energy consumption is markedly less, about a tenth of incandescent lighting.

Moreover, there are assemblies that feature additional high-tech feature such as ignition-based automatic activation, and automatic dimming. LED lighting is becoming the preferred lighting option for automobiles because, aside from the abovementioned features, they also produce a more concentrated light. Drivers could see the road better because the light is brighter. Automobiles with LED headlights can also be seen well by approaching vehicles.
